Prior to the Irish Potatoe Famine, Halloween wasn't celebrated in the United States, but it was a very popular holiday in both Ireland and Scotland and settlers from those countries brought their own version of festivities to American shores.
It was towards the close of the century though before Halloween became really popular and manufacturers started making decorations for the holiday. So if you're looking for antique Halloween decorations to fill your home with, then you'll probably be looking for goods made from about 1890 up until the start of World War I to find the most unique examples.
